Even though Washington denies the existence and, consequently, the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the island in every forum, the State Department announced new measures this Thursday, in accordance with Executive Order (EO) 14404.
In this regard, Political Bureau member and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla stated, via social media: “Every act of aggression by the U.S. government, such as the measures announced this July 23 by the Secretary of State, demonstrates that the objective is to impose collective punishment against the entire Cuban people.”
Likewise, regarding the inclusion of the Cuban Medical Services Marketing Company (CSMC) and the Central Unit for Medical Cooperation (UCCM) in the new measures, he stated that “the attack against Cuban medical cooperation amounts to an aggression against the human right to access health services for hundreds of thousands of people in many parts of the world. They are punishing Cuba for providing a humanitarian and solidarity-based service that has been recognized by the international community.”
“This is being done by the government of the richest country in the world, determined to deny this basic human right to tens of millions of its own citizens,” Bruno Rodríguez pointed out.
