Havana, June 10 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez has asserted that the United States government intends to silence the voices raised in that country against the genocide committed by Israel on Palestinian soil.
According to a publication by the foreign minister on X, "by suppressing visas for foreign students at prestigious American universities, the US government intends to forcibly silence voices within that country that denounce US complicity in Israel's genocide in Gaza."
"The truth will never be silenced," Cuba's top diplomat emphasized.
As part of the Trump administration's crackdown on immigration, the State Department recently instructed U.S. embassies and consulates around the world to halt new student visa appointments.
Under the order, the issuance of these visas will be paused while work is done on guidelines to expand the "screening and verification of social media" for all applicants, the government agency said.
This is another move by the Trump administration to hinder thousands of international students from enrolling at U.S. universities.
