Cuban Richer Perez surprise gold in Toronto Marathon

Toronto, July 25th (RHC) With a dramatic closing Richer Perez from Cuba, won the gold medal in the marathon at the Pan American Games in Toronto, with a time of 2:17:04 hours.

The silver medal went to the Peruvian Raul Pacheco, nine seconds later, who was favorite in the route of 42.2 kilometers.

The fight between the Cuban and Peruvian was hard from kilometer 30 , where they were away from the rest of the field, but in the final meters Pérez pulled out a large difference thanks to his speed.

The bronze medal went to the Argentinean Mariano Mastromarino, who kept Mexican Daniel Vargas off the podium by just 12 seconds.
