Havana, June 5 (RHC) – Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdes, member of the Politburo of the Cuban Communist Party, inaugurated on Wednesday in this city several buildings, on the occasion of the 500 th anniversary of the founding of the Villa del Espiritu Santo (Sancti Spiritus).

The Rivera Yayabo Bar, where different types of wine known in the world will be sold, was the first facility opened to the public after over two months of construction work, which turned the old building into the current recreational center.

Valdes, also Vice-president of the councils of State and Ministers, visited an "ocioclub" (leisure club) opened on Tuesday for the enjoyment of children and adolescents by way of electronic games.

The Cuban leader also attended the presentation of the book “Sancti Spíritus 1514: la historia perdida de Pueblo Viejo”, by historian and journalist Javier Sanzo, which focuses on the founding of the city of Sancti Spiritus and its transfer in 1522 to the place it occupies today.

Other works re-opened on Wednesday after refurbishing were the Colonial Hotel and El Convenio, a former grocery store now turned into a commercial center mainly to sell food products.
