Sancti Spiritus, June 10 (RHC)-- Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa today began a tour of Sancti Spiritus, where he demanded a greater boost in all programs aimed at expanding the food supply for the population.

The visit began with an exchange with project workers in the municipality of La Sierpe, where Valdés Mesa was accompanied by Deivy Pérez, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (PCC) and first secretary in the province; governor Alexis Lorente and agricultural executives.

The member of the Political Bureau of the PCC evaluated the progress made to increase food production of local autonomy. He toured and learned about the results achieved in the first integral moringa powder plant, which can initially produce about 20 tons.

In the Empresa Agroindustrial de Granos Sur del Jíbaro, the powder of high benefit in different branches will have three destinations: as a nutritional supplement in the production of cookies, in the pharmaceutical industry and for export.

Valdés Mesa demanded that the production be carried out with quality and efficiency to honor the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, who was the promoter of such a relevant initiative, he recalled.

He also visited the La Vega livestock module, of the Integral Ganadera and La Almendra base business units, belonging to the El Cedro cooperative, where he insisted on achieving greater development for the benefit of the municipality.

In the afternoon, the vice-president developed his activities in the mountainous municipality of Fomento, where he visited individual producers, cooperatives and productive modules (Source: Prensa Latina)
