Havana, September 23 (RHC)-- Criminologists and forensic experts from eleven countries are gathered here in Havana for the 9th International Symposium on Advanced Forensic Techniques in Crime Science Investigations, which began sessions on Wednesday.

Organizers said that during the three-day event, delegates will share their experiences in the field and will also participate in the investigation of simulated, close to the "real deal" crime scenes associated with terrorism, drug trafficking and other serious crimes.

Issues under discussion include modern methods of evidence extraction, including chromatography, finger printing and DNA, the use of digital technology in the investigation of industrial fires, cyberspace violations and other cyber-crimes.

The event's program includes conferences, paper presentations, workshops, panel discussions, book launchings and an exhibition of advanced forensic tools and technologies used in crime science investigations.
