Havana, July 26 (RHC) – Cuban Beach Volley duos, both men and women, came up with wins this Thursday in their respective matches.

Sergio Gonzalez and Luis Enrique Perez defeated Costa Rica´s Sebastian Valenciano and Victor Alpizar in two sets, 21-13 and 21-16. This victory gives Gonzalez and Perez a chance to make it past the group stage of the competition, but in order to advance they will have to play their best against Brazilians Oscar Brandao and Thiago Dealtry, the strongest duo in the group and probably in the tournament.

On the women´s side, Maylen Delis and Laila Martinez needed three sets, just like last match, to overcome El Salvador´s team of Maria Vargas and Kathya Vasquez. Delis and Martinez lost a really close first set 18-21, but they left their rivals defenseless to win the second set 21-12 and the tie break 15-7. The Cubans will look this Friday for a perfect record in the group stage against Peru, and they are favorites for winning a medal alongside with the Brazilians, Argentinians and Americans.´
