Cuba with good odds in Women´s Pre-Olympics Softball

Havana, August 30 (RHC) – The Cuban Women´s Softball team defeated Guatemala 15-0 this Wednesday in the Olympics Qualifying Tournament for the Americas in Surrey, Canada.

The Cubans dominated the game 5-0 until last inning, when they scored 10 more runs. Cuba´s offense shined during the game in which Leanneyi Gomez went 3-3 with 4 RBIs and Yarianna Lopez went 5-4 with a Home-Run.

Nichole Mcclendon connected the only base hit for the Guatemalans, who could not unravel Anisley Garcia´s pitching. Josselline Monge walked out with the loss.

The Cuban team has a record of 4 wins and 2 losses, after being defeated by the locals in their first game and then beat Bahamas on Monday. The game against Argentina was won by Forfeit on Tuesday, and lost again this Thursday against Puerto Rico 10-0, this last game as part of the Super Round of the Competition.

Cuba will face Brazil in the second match of the Super Round this Friday and Venezuela on Saturday, to then face Mexico in the last game of the round.
