Cuban Jasiel Rivero is once again effective with Valencia

Havana, September 8 (RHC)-- Another effective performance by Cuban basketball player Jasiel Rivero in the victory of his new team Valencia Basket 79×72 over CB Gran Canaria, in the closing of the preseason.

Rivero spent just over 22 minutes on the court and scored 12 points, thanks to a pair of two-point baskets and eight free throws in 13 attempts. In addition, he grabbed six rebounds, four of them offensive, and gave an assist for a valuation of eight credits.

Valencia dominated the first quarter by 18-12 and went into halftime ahead with a 41-33 slate.

The third period was closer, but Joan Peñarroya's disciples prevailed 21×19 to put the actions 62×52.

The reaction of the Canaries in the last quarter put Valencia in trouble, which saw the game reach 62×60, but they managed to hold on and with a triple by Montenegrin Bojan Dubljevic and a free throw by Rivero they certified the victory.

The Valencians have had a perfect preseason, with wins over Casademont Zaragoza (88×73), Baxi Manresa (88×81) and Breogán Lugo (75×66).

Next Saturday, the 2021-2022 campaign begins officially, when they face Barcelona in the semifinals of the Spanish Super Cup.

In the encounter, the "toronjas" do not start as favorites against the current champion of the Endesa League and Cup. Valencia finished fourth in the league competition.

The other semifinal is between Real Madrid and Lenovo Tenerife.
