Mayabeque: Seventh qualifier for Cuban baseball playoffs

Havana, May 17 (JIT) - The Mayabeque Hurricanes have qualified for the postseason of the National Baseball Series, and there is only one place left for the playoffs, to which Villa Clara and Pinar del Rio aspire.

For the Hurricanes to be included among the best eight in Cuba already qualifies as their best result since they made their debut in these competitions.

Michael Gonzalez's pupils defeated the Pirates of Isla de la Juventud 12x11, in a game in which they hit 18 hits, led by Yasniel Gonzalez (3-3), Alexander Pozo (3-2), Lazaro Martinez (3-2), Dennis Laza (4-2) and Rangel Ramos (5-2).

The victory went to Adrian Rajiv Sosa and made the Hurricanes the seventh team with a passport to the playoffs, the quarter-final phase.

The only thing that remains to be defined is whether Pinar holds on or Villa Clara enters, whose only option is to win the four remaining games.

The table is now as follows: Sancti Spíritus (45-30), Las Tunas (43-32), Granma (43-32), Mayabeque (41-32), Industriales (40-33), Ciego de Ávila (41-34), Matanzas (40-35) and Pinar del Río (40-35).
