Italy will not be able to count on Lorenzo Pellegrini and Mateo Politano for their upcoming Nations League matches, according to the national soccer federation.

Havana, September 20 (RHC)-- Italy will not be able to count on Lorenzo Pellegrini and Mateo Politano for their upcoming Nations League matches, according to the national soccer federation.

The source added that Pellegrini and Politano will return to their respective clubs, Roma and Napoli, in that order, and will not take part in the clashes against England and Hungary after undergoing tests in Coverciano (north).

Sandro Tonali was also examined at the Azzurri's training camp, but it was decided that he will continue as normal, although under observation.

The absence of Pellegrini and Politano was added to that of Marco Verratti, who was not called up due to injury, and Salvatore Esposito, Davide Frattesi and Manolo Gabbiadini were called up in his place.

Their absences for this double-header in search of a place in the knockout phase of the European Nations League, to which only one team from each group is admitted, will be significant.

The team coached by Roberto Mancini will first take on the English at the San Siro (Milan, north), before traveling to Budapest to close the selection window against Hungary.

The Hungarians are the revelation of Group 3 of the Nations League, leading with seven points, ahead of Germany (6), Italy (5) and England (2).
