Cuba's galactic pitching in penultimate outing of the U23 baseball tournament

​Under-23 World Baseball​

Taipei, October 21 (PL) -- A solid performance of the pitchers gave Cuba a 2-0 victory over Venezuela, still monarch of the category, in the penultimate date of the consolation round of the U-23 World Baseball Championship.

Right-handed pitcher Roberto Hernández was able to overcome the obstacles to complete four chapters, with just two hits and an equal number of strikeouts for the second victory of the Cubans in the consolation round.

Also sure of his abilities was right-hander Leodán Reyes (1-1, 3.0, 0C, 1H, 1K). Leodán was able to walk without serious inconveniences the last third of the game, to -finally- score the win in his sports biography.

After an offensive drought during the entire tournament, manager Alain Álvarez's team showed greater strength at home plate, by compiling three extra-base hits - two doubles and a triple.

According to official statistics, the winners hit seven rockets and were perfect defensively.

Now at 2-2 in the consolation round, the island team will close its presentation this Friday against South Africa in an attempt to secure the seventh place in the standings.

The IV World Cup started last 13th and will last until Sunday 23rd, with the participation of 12 teams, six of them still aspiring to the crown in the Super Round.
