Havana, November 19 (RHC)-- The popular Maracuba race will be held today throughout the country, a people's festival that as every year precedes Marabana, Cuba's main marathon race.

Carlos Gattorno, director of the Marabana/Maracuba National Commission of Races and Walks (CNCC), told Agenia Cubana de Noticias by telephone that the race will start at 10 a.m. with free participation of people who love physical exercise.

Gattorno pointed out that the distance to be run will be 4 kilometers, and in the case of Havana the main stage will be in front of the Ramon Fonst multipurpose hall.

He added that, as in previous years, runners in different categories, from children to senior citizens, will be able to join in.

Turned into a real party for those who enjoy physical activity, Maracuba will be held in all provincial, municipal, rural and mountainous areas of the country.

It will also be a nice preamble to the 36th edition of Marabana, to be held tomorrow, Sunday, and as a tribute to the Day of Physical Culture and Sport, which is celebrated precisely this November 19.
