Havana, January 4 (ACN)-- The Grand Prix tournament in France, scheduled to take place from January 20-22, will be the first challenge for Cuban gladiators in 2023, a year in which there will be two multisport games in the American continent.

According to the calendar provided to the press by the national wrestling commission, after the event on French soil, the participation of Cuban athletes in the first ranking series, to be held in Croatia from February 1 to 5, is foreseen.

Also in that second month the wrestlers of the Caribbean nation will compete in the Cerro Pelado-Granma International Tournament to be held in the coliseum of the Ciudad Deportiva, in this capital, from the 15th to the 20th.

The competitive program also includes the ALBA Games in April, the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, from June 23 to July 8, and the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile, from October 20 to November 5.

Another important competition will be the continental wrestling competition in Argentina in May, and the qualifier to the multisport event in the Chilean capital, with venue yet to be defined, in which the Cubans will go in search of the four tickets that are missing to complete the group of 18 gladiators, six women and 12 men.

As for the World Championships, the junior one will be hosted by Poland from August 14 to 20, the senior one will be held again in Serbia, from September 16 to 24, while the one for the under-23 category will be held in Finland from October 23 to 29.

Added to this calendar are the national events, including the Pioneer Cups, the team, youth and senior tournaments, the latter to be held in the province of Santiago de Cuba from June 6 to 13.
