Elite League: Portuarios enters green zone for postseason

Havana, January 21 (RHC) - The Portuarios team traveled Friday to the eastern province of Granma still with an advantage in the playoffs for the title of the First Elite League of Cuban baseball, despite the fact that its rival, Agricultores, cut the distance and boosted its ego in the most recent date with a resounding knockout.

The ninth team that combines players from Industriales and Mayabeque, Portuarios, lost by knockout to Agricultores 19-5 on Thursday. The final will resume this Saturday at the Mártires de Barbados, in Bayamo, with the series 3-2 in favor of the western side.

Regarding the sixth game, the mentor of Portuarios, Michael Gonzalez announced his main pitching card, Yadian Martinez, while Carlos Marti, Agricultores' helmsman, will send Carlos Juan Viera to the box.

Portuarios would only need one victory to win the League title and become the Cuban team to the Caribbean Series in Caracas, while Agricultores is obliged to win the two remaining games (Saturday and Sunday).
