Havana, March 4 (RHC)-- The Santiago de Cuba team continues on the way towards victory in the men's Superior Basketball League (LSB), after achieving its ninth undefeated victory this Friday with a 77-61 win over Capitalinos.

The Halcones santiagueros, the only undefeated team of the tournament, received in the multipurpose hall Alejandro Urgellés the Havana team (7-2), in the best duel of the fifth particular sub series, which will continue today, Saturday.

In that game, the indomitable dominated their rivals 38-33 in the first half, and after the break they won 22-12 and 17-16 in the third and fourth periods, respectively.

The winners were led by Esteban Martínez, with 17 points, followed by Luis Amaury Bueno (16) and Yoanni Soria (15).

In the case of the representatives of the capital, Neysser Coutin and Ariel Ferrán stood out, both with 11 points, in addition to Héctor Martinto (10), according to the data sent to the press by Eduardo Moya, technical director of the national team.

Also on Friday, the Lobos de Villa Clara (8-1) secured second place in the standings with an 81-78 victory over the Tuneros (0-9), who have yet to win their first victory in the competition.

Finally, at the Mariposa de la Universidad de las Ciencias de la Cultura Física y del Deporte Manuel Fajardo, in Havana, the reigning champions of Ciego de Avila (4-5) broke their negative streak of four consecutive losses.

The Avileños, owners of 10 titles in the LSB, defeated Mayabeque (4-5), a debutant in that competition, 80-66.

As for the teams from Sancti Spíritus (2-6), runner-up in the last edition, and Artemisa (1-7), they will play this Saturday and Sunday due to delays in the transfer of the team from Sancti Spíritus to their headquarters.
