Díaz-Canel celebrates Cuba's results in sports events

Havana, May 15 (RHC) --The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel celebrated Monday the victories of athletes from the island during several sporting events held this weekend.

Through his Twitter profile, the head of state sent congratulations to the duo formed by Lázaro Portes and Daniel Martínez, who won the gold medal at the second stop of the Norceca beach volleyball circuit, after defeating the United States 2-1 in the sands of the Cuban resort of Varadero, 140 kilometers east of Havana.

The dignitary also congratulated Tokyo 2020 Paralympic champion Robiel Yankiel Sol for setting a new world record of 7.69 meters in the long jump in the T46 category this Sunday in Italy.

He also congratulated boxer Yoenlis Hernández for winning his second world title at the Tashkent 2023 World Boxing Championship.
