Havana, July 2 (RHC)-- Cuba on Sunday tightened its grip on Colombia in the dispute for second place in the medal table of the Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023, by appearing only one title away.

The Cubans won five titles on the last day, four in men's wrestling and one with Jaimet Ruano in the sailing sunfish modality, to total 45 gold, 29 silver and 33 bronze medals.

Colombia won three crowns, two in diving and one in bowling, and now has 46 gold, 34 silver and 31 bronze medals, keeping the second place by country.

Mexico remained firmly in first place in the medal standings with 72 gold medals, 63 runner-up finishes and 53 third places.

In the dispute for the fifth place, Venezuela, occupying that position, feels the pressure of Puerto Rico.

The Venezuelans have 15 gold, 25 silver and 44 bronze medals, while the Puerto Ricans have 13 gold, 16 silver and 22 bronze medals (Source: Prensa Latina).
