Cuban baseball tournament's All-Stars announced

Havana, July 18 (RHC) --Headed by Santiago de Cuba's fourth baseman Osday Silva, chosen as the most valuable player, the all-star team of the 62nd National Baseball Series was announced on Monday. 

Silva led the league in home runs (18) and runs batted-in (80), and registered an offensive line of .337/.450/.608/.991, figures that confirm his excellent campaign with the Avispas.

Industriales pitcher Rafael Perdomo was selected as rookie of the year. He won eight games without defeat in the preliminary phase, contributed one save and showed an efficiency of 2.94 and a WHIP of 1.35 (runs per inning average).

The ninth of the silver bats was composed of infielders Osvaldo Vázquez (CAV, R), Osday Silva (SCU, 1B), Aníbal Medina (MTZ, 2B), Andrés de la Cruz (GTM, SS) and Dayán García (ART, 3B).

The outfield triad was formed by Luis González (CMG), Denis Laza (MAY) and the leading hitter of the championship, Tunero Héctor Castillo.

A pair of espirituanos qualified in the select offensive group, Rodolexis Moreno as utility player and Cuban baseball icon Fréderich Cepeda, best designated player.

The golden glove awards went to Nelson Batista, Yasniel González (MAY, 1B), Juan Miguel Martínez (MAY, 2B), Yulián Milán (GRA, SS), Alexander Ayala (CMG, 3B), Yosniel Pérez (CFG, LF), Alberto Calderón (IND, CF), Luis Antonio González (CMG, RF) and pitcher Wilber Reyna (SCU).

The stellar list of the championship is completed with Erlis Casanova from Pinar del Río as the best right-handed pitcher, Geonel Gutiérrez from Artemisa among the left-handers and the reliever Yanielquis Duardo from El Espiritu, top stopper with 16 saves.
