Havana, August 25 (RHC) - Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen won the World Chess Cup, after beating several of the best chess players on the planet in Baku, Azerbaijan.

It was one of the few elite tournaments he had left to win, and he tried to do it in two other opportunities.

For the Norwegian, this crown is especially important, since he has just given up the throne of World Champion that he won in 2013 to the Indian Vishy Anand and defended four times against the best in the world.

Throughout the competition, Carlsen had to overcome 7 Grandmasters, including Vasyl Ivanchuk, Dommaraju Gukesh, the revelation of the Cup, the Azeri Nijat Abasov, and the young Indian Rameshbabu Praggnanandha
