Santiago de Chile, October 22 (RHC) - Cuban cycling star Arlenis Sierra won the silver medal on Sunday in the time trial at the Pan American Games Santiago 2023, her third medal on the road in the history of the continental events.

On a cold morning in Isla de Maipo, in the outskirts of the Chilean capital, the Cuban was the last of the 16 cyclists registered to take the start due to her condition of favorite and leader in the ranking of America.

But among her rivals was a true specialist of the event, the American Kristen Faulkner, who had not competed so far this year, but has an extensive mileage and luxury results in the modality, such as sixth place in the 2022 World Cup and victories in several races in Europe.

With a state-of-the-art bike for the time trial and an exquisite technique, the northern rider appeared here with a time of 25.45.38 min in the 20 km, riding at an impressive average speed of 46.6 km / h that made her unreachable for her rivals.
