Havana, February 1 (RHC) - Marileidy Paulino, one of the stars of world athletics, will travel in about two weeks to Castellon (Spain), to establish her preparation camp with a view to the Paris Olympic Games.

"We will leave for Europe in about two weeks and establish our base in Castellon," his trainer, Cuban Yaseen Perez Gomez, told Radio Habana Cuba.

The Dominican Republic's sports star has set his training camp in Castellon since 2021, which has brought him excellent dividends.

According to the trainer, Paulino's international debut is scheduled for April 20 at the first stop of the Diamond League, in Xiamen (China).

The Cuban discovered the 27-year-old runner born 27 years ago in Nizao (south) while taking up handball and has guided her throughout her brilliant career.

"These will be our games. We are going all out," added the coach, in a clear allusion to her intentions of taking the Olympic gold in 400m and attacking the long-standing world record for the distance.

Paulino only lacks Olympic gold in his trophy cabinet, after winning silver medals in Tokyo-2020 (2021) in the 400m and 4x400 relay.
