Arlen López
Havana, Jun-22 (JIT) - A fight scheduled for July 17 at the Las Vegas Theater in Madrid will feature the next bout for Cuban boxer Arlen López, who remains undefeated in four previous fights.
The president of the Cuban Boxing Federation, Alberto Puig de la Barca, confirmed that the star from Guantánamo will face Mexican Paul Valenzuela in a 10-round bout in the light heavyweight division.
Valenzuela is a more experienced opponent in these circuits, having spent the last 13 years with a record of 28 wins (five by KO), 12 losses, and one draw.
Arlen made his professional debut in 2022, but he is backed by a solid Olympic career, highlighted by gold medals in Rio de Janeiro (2016) and Tokyo (2020), as well as a bronze medal in Paris (2024), along with a world title in 2015.
His last fight took place on July 11, 2011, at the Meliá Internacional Hotel in Varadero, where he won the World Boxing Association's Latin American continental belt.
He defeated Argentina's Martín Ezequiel Bulacio 3-0 in 10 rounds in a fight that left him with an injury from which he has now fully recovered after not participating in the Playa Girón national tournament.
