
National Youth Women’s Soccer Championship
Havana, Jun 30 (RHC) - The national youth women’s soccer championship concluded with the title for the representatives of Havana.
Winners of 10 points in five games, the Havana team secured the crown, leaving the Cienfuegos team with the silver medal.
The date also served to define the last place on the podium, as in a pending match the Villa Clara team won by the minimum to Camagüey and won the bronze medal.
Camagüey, Santiago de Cuba, and Holguín placed fourth to sixth places, in that order.
Zulia González, who represented the champions, deserved the award as the most outstanding athlete of the tournament.
Her teammate Dalila Rodríguez Lovaina was the best goalkeeper and the helmsman of the champions, Jaime Vázquez Gaínza, was chosen as the most outstanding coach.
The Cienfuegos players had Samantha Andino as a reference, and her performance became vital to get the second place in the overall, which also earned her the recognition as the leading scorer of the tournament.
Ivett Santiago, from Havana, received recognition as the best referee and Angélica María Peña, from Pinar del Río, as the best assistant referee.
