Caracas, February 14 (RHC)-- Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro said he's sure the International Criminal Court (ICC) will rule in favor of the Venezuelan people concerning the complaint his nation filed against criminal U.S. sanctions.

"The struggle for justice, the equality of states, and peace is very established... enough of criminal sanctions and blockades against the Venezuelan people," Maduro demanded.  He explained that the legal action initiated in The Hague court is a necessary step to stop crimes against humanity committed by the United States, a country that prevents Venezuelans from buying food and medicine in world markets.

"Justice must prevail in this world.  It cannot be possible that the United States prohibits the importation of supplies which are essential everyday life," Maduro said and stressed that arbitrary sanctions affecting Venezuela could also harm any country at any time.

The Bolivarian president mentioned that documents presented to the ICC contain enough data about “the illegal and criminal persecution of the U.S. government” against the Venezuelan oil industry, which is one of the main factors that prevent medicines from reaching this South American country.

"I ask social organizations, political movements and people around the world to support this complaint before the International Court.  Ask for justice for Venezuela," Maduro stressed.  "I am sure that justice will prevail if the ICC studies in-depth all the coercive measures, their collateral effects, the crimes, and human rights violations that have been committed against Venezuela."

Venezuela's president also denounced that Colombia and Brazil, which have aligned themselves with Washington's geopolitical views, are seeking to destabilize the Bolivarian government.  "Colombia's President Ivan Duque has broken the basic rules of international diplomacy.  He believes that he can conquer political power in Venezuela."

"In Colombia, there are groups of terrorists and mercenaries who are training to provoke a war in Venezuela. Ivan Duque is behind all of this."

Finally, Maduro stressed that the U.S. blockade and the actions of the fascist governments will not be able to bend the will of a sovereign people.  "Venezuela is capable of defeating any international campaign.  They have not been able to defeat us.  Nor will they be able to defeat us."
