Washington, March 12 (RHC)-- In the United States, the National Basketball Association has announced that it will suspend all games after Wednesday night until further notice, following a player on the Utah Jazz testing positive for COVID-19.

"The NBA will use this hiatus to determine the next steps for moving forward in response to the coronavirus pandemic," the association said in a statement.

Meanwhile, in Europe, Spanish top-flight La Liga has been suspended for "at least the next two rounds of matches" as a result of the Real Madrid squad going into quarantine because of coronavirus.

"The recommendation has been made to quarantine both the basketball first team and the football first team, given that the two squads share facilities in Ciudad Real Madrid," a Real statement said.

The Spanish second division has also been suspended, and La Liga said it would "revaluate" the situation following the completion of quarantine "in the affected clubs and other possible situations that may arise."

In Italy, all sports events are suspended, including Serie A until April 3rd, with the country in lockdown.
