Bodies of young people reported missing discovered in Colombia

Bogota, February 2 (RHC)-- The Institute of Development Studies for Peace (Indepaz) revealed Monday that Colombian authorities found the bodies of four young people reported missing in the village of El Ejido, municipality of Policarpa, department of Nariño.

According to the authorities of the department, the bodies responded to the names of Yulieth Mellizo, Daniel Felipe Paz, Julian David Ortiz and Fabio Alejandro Navia, "it is being confirmed whether they were murdered (massacre) or it was an accident," added Indepaz.

The mayor of the municipality of Policarpa, Orlando Muñoz, said that the motives for the murder of the four young people are still unknown.   "They have not yet given us a report, they disappeared on Friday, the 29th."

Violence in Colombia intensifies in these first few days of the year 2021, according to Indepaz.  In just one month, the country as reported 18 social leaders and six ex-combatants who are signatories of the Peace Agreement murdered.   Slso, eight massacres have been carried out so far this year.
