Jenin, June 2 (RHC)-- Israeli forces have raided a Palestinian town near the city of Jenin in the north of the occupied West Bank, killing a Palestinian youth and injuring six others.

The attack targeted the town of Ya'bad, located 20 kilometers (12 miles) west of Jenin, on Wednesday, various Palestinian media outlets reported.  “In the heat of armed confrontations in Ya’bad, the occupiers sent a large number of reinforcements to the area,” the Palestinian Shehab news agency reported.

Moments later, Palestinian outlets reported that one of the Palestinian youths, who had been targeted by live Israeli fire in the chest, had died of his injuries in a local hospital.  They named the victim as 24-year-old Balal Kabha.

The number of Palestinians, who have died since the beginning of the year during confrontations with Israeli forces in and around Jenin, has now reached 22.

Reacting to the murder, the Gaza Strip-based Palestinian resistance movement Hamas spokesman Abdul-Latif Qanu said: “The blood of the martyrs fuels the Palestinian people’s revolution, which will not stop until realizing its goals that are freedom and return to their homes."

The West Bank-headquartered Palestinian Authority too strongly condemned the killing.  The Palestine Information Center news agency, meanwhile, said more than 300 Israeli forces had attacked the house of “Martyr Diaa Hamarsheh” in Ya'bad. Earlier this year, the Palestinian youth killed five Israelis, including a policeman, before being shot dead in the ultra-orthodox town of Bnei Brak east of Tel Aviv.
