Cairo, Aug 23 (RHC) -- Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday called for a quick resumption of Egypt-mediated talks between Israel and the Palestinians that failed last week in order to stop the bloody conflict in Gaza.

"My main goal is to resume the truce talks in Cairo as soon as possible so as to prevent more bloodshed," Abbas told a news conference after meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al- Sisi.

A previous round of truce talks collapsed on Tuesday which broke nine days of calm and resumed the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Abbas' comments came as three Palestinians were killed, including a woman, and ten injured in an Israeli airstrike on a house in central Gaza Strip on Satuday morning.

While Israeli war jets have been striking on the Gaza Strip, Palestinian militants fired more rockets into central and southern Israel. A four-year-old boy was killed after a rocket hit his family house in Southern Israel near the border with Gaza.
