At least four children died and three were injured, after a knife attack in a day care center in Brazil

Havana, April 5 (RHC) At least four children died and three were injured, one of them in serious condition, at a day care center in the city of Blumenau, in southern Brazil, after a knife attack perpetrated by a 25-year-old youth, local authorities reported this Wednesday.

The Brazilian police declared that the perpetrator entered the place of care called Cantinho Bom Pastor wearing a mask, attacked the minors and then turned himself in to the authorities.

Several units of the fire brigade, health services and the police went to the scene to deal with the emergency and investigate whether there are more people involved in the events.

In recent months, similar attacks have been repeated in other educational centers in Brazil.

The latter comes after a 71-year-old teacher was stabbed to death by one of her 13-year-old students at a school in Sao Paulo last week. In the incident, five other people were injured.

Regarding the events, the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, immediately spoke on the networks and stated: “There is no greater pain than that of a family that loses its children or grandchildren, even more so in an act of violence against innocent and defenseless children. My condolences and prayers to the families of the victims and the Blumenau community in the midst of the monstrosity that occurred at the Bom Pastor day care center."

Many parents crowded at the door of the educational center while waiting for news. The State Board of Criminal Investigations has already confirmed that it will be in charge of investigating the attack. (Source: Telesur)
