Biden touring western U.S.

Washington, Aug 8 (RHC) Joe Biden is touring western United States to make a difference for the 2024 elections, while former President Donald Trump continues with legal entanglements.

According to the White House, the first president's tour will stop this Tuesday in Arizona, then New Mexico and Utah, until August 10.

Biden is on his way to that part of the country to promote his administration's achievements with the Inflation Reduction Act, a year after its enactment on August 16.

The legislation is the scaled-down version of Biden's original, more ambitious Rebuild Better plan, which suffered too many setbacks in Congress to leave it mortally wounded.

In any case, the current law proposes an extensive package of measures to combat climate change and promote clean energy, issues that are at the top of the agenda of the head of the executive mansion.

According to local media, the tour of the West has the clear purpose to try to take credit for an improving economy, with the lowest unemployment in a long time and an investment of one trillion dollars in infrastructure,

Biden, who will seek re-election in 2024 and could face Trump in a rematch fight, is struggling to lift his approval ratings.

A recent poll by The Washington Post and the University of Maryland found that 63 percent of the electorate disapproves of Biden's handling of climate change.

In addition, the poll found that only a few adults surveyed said they knew much about the Inflation Reduction Act, which proposes measures in response to climate change. The opinion polls also revealed that both contenders would be tied with 43 percent of the voting intention in an eventual confrontation in November of next year. (Source: PL)
