Khan Yunis, February 2 (RHC)-- The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) confirmed on Thursday that the Israeli occupation forces are maintaining, for the eleventh consecutive day, the attack and siege on Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.

The agency corroborated the continuity and intensity of shelling and firing by the occupation forces in the vicinity of Al-Amal Hospital, as well as the military incursions into the hospital and the Palestine Red Crescent Society facilities, in addition to the danger to which medical personnel and refugees are exposed.

The PRCS reported that the occupation forces are surrounding the hospital from all directions with military tanks, making it impossible for ambulances and rescue teams to enter and exit the hospital and the building.

The agency also referred to the lack of availability of food for staff, patients and displaced persons, being forced to reduce food rations to one meal a day in order to conserve the remaining supplies.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said the hospital is experiencing a shortage of infant formula, putting infants at great risk, and warned that the health center is suffering from a critical shortage of medical supplies, medicines and fuel.

The Society denounced that its health teams were forced to bury five bodies in the hospital courtyard because of the ongoing siege, bringing the total number of people buried in the courtyard since the beginning of the siege to 15.

"Seven patients and wounded face life-threatening situations if they are not transferred for treatment outside the hospital," PRCS noted.
