Washington, April 28 (RHC)-- U.S. President Joe Biden's entourage had to take a different route to avoid the large group of protesters gathered in front of a hotel in Washington, DC, where the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner was held Saturday evening.

Biden arrived through a back entrance at the Washington Hilton, where he was greeted by smaller groups of protesters calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The grassroots movement Code Pink marched to the venue from a nearby park.  The anti-way group argues on its website that “the United States media perpetuates anti-Palestinian narratives and ignores Israeli war crimes.”

The U.S. president gave an election-year address to journalists on Saturday night at the event, against the backdrop of protests against his support for Israel’s war on Gaza, which has killed more than 34,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children.

Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Douglas Emhoff, also attended the event, according to her official account on X.
