Caracas, May 14 (RHC)-- The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, along with the family of Maikelys Espinoza, mother and grandmother, welcomed the two-year-old baby at Miraflores Palace, after the girl, kidnapped in the United States, arrived in Venezuela.
Maikelys Espinoza -- kidnapped by U.S. authorities and separated from her mother who was deported -- was finally released and returned home to Venezuela on Wednesday.
The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, along with the family of Maikelys Espinoza, mother and grandmother, welcomed the two-year-old baby at Miraflores Palace, after the girl kidnapped in the United States arrived in Venezuelan territory on flight 22 of the humanitarian program Vuelta a la Patria, through Maiquetía International Airport, La Guaira state.
Venezuela's first female combatant, Cilia Flores, entered the government headquarters with the baby in her arms and handed her to Yorely Bernal, the baby's mother.
According to Nicolás Maduro, today "is a day where one feels that everything is worth it." He expressed his gratitude for the love and solidarity of all the mothers, grandmothers, and people of Venezuela for the family reunited this Wednesday. The head of state recognized the work of Dr. Jorge Rodríguez, president of the Venezuelan National Assembly, in his capacity as special envoy to manage the rescue. He also highlighted the work of Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez's team.
The president made a special mention of the lawyers, civil rights movements, and migrant rights movements in the United States who, in coordination with Venezuelan human rights defender Larry Devoe, "acted legally, seeking a miracle, and the miracle has once again occurred."
He also sent his greetings to Richard Grenell, the U.S. Administration's special envoy for Venezuela, and through him, conveyed a message of gratitude to the U.S. president for consummating this humane act of justice.
"There have been and will continue to be differences [ with the Trump administration ]. But it is possible, with the blessing of God the Father, to move forward and resolve many issues. I hope and aspire that very soon we can also rescue Maikelys's father and the 253 Venezuelans who are in El Salvador," he added.
Nicolás Maduro asked the entire people of Venezuela to maintain active solidarity. "This human victory of having this beautiful girl among us belongs to all the people of Venezuela, but above all to the mothers and grandmothers," he said.
In a message to Venezuelan migrants, Nicolás Maduro said:
"Come, don't believe in false homelands, in false illusions of the American dream. Come to Venezuela, we all love you here. Here we make amends, here we resolve issues together, and we build the only homeland we have: a homeland. The home where our ancestors and our hopes are; the home of all. We are bringing it, little by little, but we are moving forward.
"This is the land of freedom, hope, and happiness. Come all of you, we are going to rescue you all. I am going to bring you all back, wherever you are. You know we are committed. We have the planes, and one by one we are going to bring you back so that we can reunite the Venezuelan family that has suffered so much because of the criminal sanctions.
"Congratulations to this family, congratulations to Venezuela," he concluded.
