Caracas, June 2 (RHC)-- The Venezuelan government, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has issued a "maximum travel alert" for all Venezuelan citizens, warning of the serious dangers migrants face in the United States.
The Foreign Ministry urged those already residing there to cancel travel plans and consider returning to the country, arguing that "the United States is a dangerous country where human rights do not exist for migrants."
The official statement denounces "arbitrary detentions" and the existence of a "machine of persecution against migrants" in the U.S., citing the case of the 252 Venezuelans allegedly held in "concentration camps" in El Salvador, under inhumane conditions and subjected to psychological torture.
The Venezuelan government fears that these citizens are being used as "hostages" by the far-right Venezuelan opposition to "blackmail national institutions."
Furthermore, the Foreign Ministry denounces "murderous racism" in the U.S., stating that "being Latino, of African descent, or a Venezuelan migrant is a risk of death." It argues that the police act brutally, mass shootings are frequent, and xenophobic laws make Venezuelans "easy targets for hate."
Venezuela reiterates its accusation of "institutional hypocrisy" against the United States and points out that while the State Department criticizes Venezuela, it "hides its own atrocities." It denounces the separation of families at the border, the inhumane treatment of migrant children, and the violation of international law.
"If you are in the United States, protect your life and that of your family and return to your homeland. If you plan to travel, do not. There is no American dream there, only nightmares," the statement concludes, reaffirming the Venezuelan government's support for all its citizens abroad and its call to return through the Return to the Homeland plan. The Foreign Ministry urges everyone to share this message to raise awareness about the situation and demand respect for Venezuelans.
