Berlin, June 8 (RHC)-- German MP Cansin Köktürk was thrown out of the Bundestag chamber for wearing a "political T-shirt" with the word “Palestine” on it.
The president of the parliament, Julia Klöckner, said that “neither stickers nor any other forms of statement on T-shirts should have a place in the plenary.”
As Köktürk was being expelled, a pro-Palestinian activist in the visitors’ gallery interrupted Germany's Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, Johann Wadephul’s speech by shouting “Free Palestine” and “Blood on your hands.” She was aggressively removed by parliamentary security.
Following the incident, Köktürk exposed Wadephul's hypocritical stance, saying, "Not a word about over 50,000 dead and injured children. I am asked to leave the chamber because my T-shirt says 'Palestine.' You have all failed so badly."
Political observers noted that the fact that even the word “#Palestine” on a T-shirt is too much for #Germany’s Bundestag is extremely ironic and suggestive of systemic hypocrisy of those same people who claim to support an independent Palestinian State.
Normalizing #Israel’s genocide stands as the darkest tragedy in the world today and Israel's supporters & apologists are no less than complicit in its atrocities.
Anger against Israel has increased worldwide since October 7, 2023, when the occupying regime launched a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
Almost 20 months into its brutal aggression, Israel has failed to achieve its declared objectives in Gaza despite killing at least 54,607 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 125,341 others.
