Ethnic cleansing broadcast live: Health official slams Israel’s undeterred crimes in Gaza

Gaza City, June 9 (RHC)-- The Gaza Health Ministry’s director-general has expressed outrage over the international community’s silence and inaction in the face of the Israeli regime’s ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip, which continues to proceed “undeterred” and with impunity.

“We are witnessing ethnic cleansing broadcast live, with no deterrence and no accountability, in one of the most documented crimes in history,” Munir al-Bursh said in an Interview with Aljazeera.

According to Bursh, they are facing a critical situation with only three days of fuel remaining.  The World Health Organization, despite having fuel in storage, is unable to deliver it due to the Israeli military designating the storage locations as “red zones,” he said.

“The occupation is deliberately working to destroy the entire healthcare system as part of its strategy of control and displacement,” the health official highlighted.  He warned that Gaza is now nearing the fifth stage of famine – “the stage of mass death.”

“And the world watches in silence, sipping its coffee while massacres are carried out in Gaza,” he regretted.

He also explained that the Israeli regime is besieging Al-Amal and Nasser hospitals in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, preventing entry and exit, and demolishing the surrounding buildings.

Bursh pointed out that this is a repetition of the scenario in northern Gaza that began with the destruction of the area around Al-Awda Hospital in Tal Al-Zaatar, the Indonesian Hospital, and Kamal Adwan Hospital, all aimed at forcibly displacing the population.

“What is happening is the implementation of a premeditated, systematic plan to empty Khan Younis of its residents,” he said.

Bursh had earlier warned that hospitals in Gaza are facing “catastrophic” conditions due to a severe shortage of medicine and medical supplies as the Israeli authorities are blocking around 3,000 trucks carrying essential health equipment from entering Gaza from Egypt’s Arish city.

“The occupation’s ongoing ban on the entry of medicine and vaccines has contributed to the spread of infectious diseases and epidemics,” Bursh said in a statement.

The senior official noted a sharp increase in cases of acute diarrhea, meningitis, and other health crises in Gaza, exacerbated by a collapse in water security, with 90 percent of Gaza’s population now suffering from a lack of access to safe water.

Israeli forces seize European Gaza Hospital

Israeli forces have seized European Gaza Hospital (EGH) in Khan Younis, releasing footage showing Israeli forces operating computer terminals and holding meetings inside what appear to be hospital premises.

EGH, which was once one of southern Gaza’s largest hospitals, has now been converted into an Israeli forces command and control center.

Legal experts say the move is a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, which prohibits the militarization of medical facilities, raising grave concern about the situation of patients and staff.

“There are many patients and medical staff in the hospital,” the Red Crescent said, urging international organizations to intervene, protect medical sites, and open safe corridors for aid and medical supplies.

Since the start of the genocidal war on Gaza 20 months ago, Israel has claimed that the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement governing Gaza is using hospitals as “command centers” without providing any evidence.
