Damascus, July 6, (Euronews), – The Syrian army says it has taken control of a district in Aleppo City after an intense offensive by rebel groups.

Meanwhile, the Syrian troops added that together with allied fighters of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, they have made fresh advances in their offensive into the border town of Zabadani, encircling the militants deep into the city.

Zabadani is of crucial importance. Not only is it near Damascus but it is also close to the main highway linking the Syrian capital to Lebanon’s capital city Beirut.
