Washington, October 31 (RHC)-- The United States is sending Special Operations Forces troops to Syria to train militants fighting against the government and the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group, in an apparent breach of President Barack Obama's promise not to put U.S. “boots on the ground."

Unnamed U.S. administration officials said on Friday that there will be some 50 troops deployed in the Middle East region to "train, advise and assist" so-called vetted militants, the BBC reported.

A top official told the British broadcaster that this does not indicate a change in U.S. strategy but an "intensification" of the military campaign.

I have to laugh when I read Obama's 2009 Nobel Peace Prize citation, ""for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples". When it comes to war mongering, he's as bad, if not worse than, the Bush clan. Obama's aquiescence to the US military's unquenchable thirst for constant war, in order to justify their $800 billion per year budget, is the biggest threat to world peace. However, the money supply is not infinite. Simple arithmetic shows that the US government's constant war machine will have spent itself to death within the next 20 years. Then, maybe, the world will finally know some peace.
