Lisbon, April 24 (RHC)-- The General Confederation of Portuguese Workers/National Inter-union (CGTP-IN), the largest trade union center in that country, recently expressed its solidarity with Cuba, rejecting the blockade imposed by the United States and highlighting its cooperation in these times of pandemic.

The union confederation's declaration on the international situation concludes by saying that the evolution of the situation shows that the fight against COVID-19 is linked to the struggle of workers and peoples to defend their rights, according to the website of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A delegation of Cuban trade unionists participated in the XIV Congress of the CGTP-IN, which took place on February 14th and 15th this year, in Lisbon.

According to the newspaper Trabajadores, for almost five decades the Portuguese trade union center has maintained historic relations with the Cuban trade union movement, based on mutual solidarity, as well as the struggle against imperialism and for peace.
