Cuban medical collaboration praised in Saint Lucia

Castries, July 16 (RHC)-- The Minister of Health of Saint Lucia, Mary Isaac, expressed on behalf of her people and government, gratitude to the health workers of Cuba for accompanying the national effort to confront the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the farewell ceremony for the first group of the internationalist contingent Henry Reeve, the head of the sector made public the recognition of the citizens of Saint Lucia, who highlighted the excellent welfare work of the Cuban collaborators.  Minister Isaac acknowledged the free, voluntary and humanistic assistance of Cuban health workers, whom she praised for providing "extremely good" service.  

During these weeks of work, solidarity associations, doctors and dentists, Cuban residents and graduates of Saint Lucia supported the proposal of the Nobel Peace Prize for the internationalist contingent Henry Reeve, specialized in natural disasters and epidemics.

The medical cooperation between Cuba and Saint Lucia turned 19 last February, as an expression of more than four decades of diplomatic relations under the character of friendship and integration.

On the other hand, the Minister of Infrastructure, Port, Energy and Labor of Saint Lucia, Stephenson King, recognized the work of Cuban engineer Raúl Tamayo for the years of collaboration in favor of the development of the sector in the country.

The Minister presented a commemorative plaque to Tamayo, who is ending his solidarity mission in that nation as a representative of the Union of Construction Companies of the Caribbean (Uneca).  He described Cuba as a friendly and reliable country, highlighting the excellent cooperation relations in different branches for the progress of the sister Caribbean island.

During his speech, the minister expressed that Cuba has always been willing to help and at present the longstanding bilateral exchange reinforces progress in areas such as those represented by his portfolio.
