Havana, December 24 (RHC)-- A cargo of 1,000 tons of food donated by Caribbean countries arrived Friday at the Cuban port of Cienfuegos for distribution to consumers in the province of the same name, local television reported.

According to the source, the shipment comprises rice, pasta, sugar, and cans of sardines and will reach more than 148,000 households in that province located in south-central Cuba.

The donation arrived at the port of the provincial capital on patrol vessel 391, manned by the Revolutionary War Navy (MGR) to support the transport of supplies and provisions during the pandemic from various destinations.

The Ministries of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Transportation, and Domestic Trade also participated in the transfer and unloading.

The cargo was received by the head of the MGR, Rear Admiral Carlos Duque, and the highest authority of the military region in the province, Brigadier General Lázaro Calzada, and other representatives of the local government.
