Havana, August 9 (RHC)-- With the presence of Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, the new Colombia-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group was installed Tuesday in the Colombian Congress in Bogota as a gesture of brotherhood between the two peoples.

"I am grateful for the expressions of solidarity and support for our country received today during the ceremony at the Colombian Congress. There, the Colombia-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group was officially constituted, which will contribute to strengthening the relations between both nations", said the Foreign Minister.

Gabriel Becerra from the House of Representatives; and Gloria Inés Florez from the Senate will be the coordinators of the Group, made up of 50 members of Congress from different political parties.

Rodríguez headed the delegation that attended the inauguration of President Gustavo Petro and Vice President Francia Márquez, held last Sunday.

"Diplomatic relations and international cooperation will be significant for our peoples. We greet President Diaz-Canel and Bruno Rodriguez from Colombia," said Twitter Comunes party senator Sandra Ramirez, who is part of that Group.

The space was propitious to ratify the friendship, brotherhood, and historical ties that unite the two peoples and Cuba's invariable support for peace in Colombia.

"Our eternal gratitude to the island's support in the struggle for peace," said Sergio Marín, representative to the Colombian Chamber of Congress for the Comunes party.
