Cuban prime minister tours Mayabeque province to assess recovery after Hurricane Ian

Havana, October 15 (RHC)-- Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero toured Mayabeque province on Saturday to evaluate the progress of recovery actions in the western territory after the passage of Hurricane Ian.

On his Twitter account, the official pointed out that in complex times the main working method is the Government in the street, as it is essential to communicate directly with citizens, in a timely, transparent and truthful manner.

Marrero affirmed that the population is fair and recognizes the work of its leaders when it sees them close to the problems, and alluded to the state of the integral rehabilitation project of the Surgidero de Batabanó, one of the most affected localities.

The head of government mentioned the visit to the site where they are building the houses moved from that region, one of the actions foreseen in that social plan, and as he passed by, the residents expressed their gratitude for the new location.

After its transit through the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud and the province of Pinar del Río, the meteorological event hit the southern coast of the Caribbean country and the fundamental damages appear to be associated to vulnerabilities such as floods and sea penetration.
