Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Arrives in Cuba

Havana, Dec 14 (RHC) Ralph Gonsalves, prime minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, arrived Wednesday in Cuba to participate in the 22nd Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP).

 

Upon his arrival at José Martí International Airport in Havana, the head of government was received by Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, Cuban deputy minister of Foreign Affairs.

 

The ALBA-TCP meeting will take place this afternoon, on the 18th anniversary of the founding of this integration mechanism, the fruit of the political will of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and Hugo Chávez Frías, leader of the Bolivarian Revolution.

 

Sacha Llorenti, executive secretary of this international organization, and other Latin American and Caribbean representatives are already in Havana to participate in the event, which will take place at the Havana Convention Palace.

 

According to the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the 22nd Summit of Heads of State and Government ALBA-TCP will be an opportunity for beneficial exchanges among nations on the progress and challenges of this mechanism of coordination.

 

The ten countries that make up the political, economic, and social alliance are St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, and Cuba.

 

Since its creation on December 14, 2004, its work focuses on the fight against poverty and social exclusion through a project of collaboration and political, social, and economic support among its member states. (Source: ACN).
