Santa Clara, Feb 5 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel was approved this Sunday by unanimous vote as a candidate for deputy to the parliament by the 110 delegates of the Assembly of People's Power in this city.

 

In the biography of the current Cuban president, his outstanding academic results and his past trajectory as a student leader at the Marta Abreu de las Villas University in this city in central Cuba, where the extraordinary session of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power was held today, appear. 

 

Díaz-Canel was also recognized for his outstanding work as the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the provinces of Villa Clara and Holguín, his internationalist participation in Nicaragua, and his current work as the first secretary of the Party in the nation.

 

In the list of the eight nominees for Santa Clara to be voted by the people on March 26, there is also the president of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), Luis Morlote, the Governor and First Secretary of the Communist Party in Villa Clara, Alberto López, and Osnay Miguel Colina, respectively.

 

The 10th Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power will have 470 deputies (135 less than the current one), of which 221 (47.02 percent) will be base delegates; 135 (28.7 percent) will be provincial deputies; and 114 (24.2 percent) national deputies. (Source: PL)
