Havana, March 11 (RHC) A group of experts in information and communication technology from the Belarusian Academy of Sciences exchanged experiences with Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ines Maria Chapman.

Cuba’s deputy minister of Science, Technology, and Environment (CITMA), Armando Rodriguez, wrote on his Twitter account that the Belarusian experts will visit research centers and universities.

Last year, Belarus and Cuba signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of communications.

The document was penned by Belarusian Communications and Computerization Minister Konstantin Shuljan and Cuban Ambassador in Minsk Juan Valdes, on behalf of the Ministry of Communications.

Both officials discussed the development of collaboration in this area and stressed that the initiative is preceded by the fruitful results of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel’s successful visit to Belarus in October 2019, and the agreements reached the talks with his counterpart, Alexandr Lukashenko.

The two parties seek to promote cooperation and meetings between companies, research and education institutions, state agencies, and other organizations from both countries in the field of communications.

The Memorandum covers the sectors of communications and postal services, telecommunications, and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

The key aspects of the agreement include policy and regulation, development and modernization of telecommunications infrastructures, electronic government, modernization and development of the postal industry, and Information and Communication Technologies for development, among others.
