Lebanon reaffirms commitment to Cuba

 

Havana, May 1 (RHC) - In a day of solidarity, Cuban residents, Lebanese graduates on the island and diplomats accredited in Beirut today ratified their commitment to Cuba and its Revolution.

In a meeting with a representation of the community of friends of Cuba in the Baalbeck region, Jorge León, head of the Cuban mission in Beirut, thanked them for their support and congratulated them on the occasion of International Workers' Day.

During the dialogue, the Cuban official updated on the economic and political reality of the island and the efforts of the people to overcome the obstacles imposed by the United States blockade for more than six decades.

León praised the conquests of the Cuban working class throughout these years and evoked the words of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro: "Revolution is unity, it is independence."

For their part, those present represented the example of Cuba for the free nations of the world as a faithful defender of dignity and just causes. At the same time, they manifested their pride in being Cuban.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese appreciated the opportunity to train in universities and institutes on the island; and to be able to count on the friendship of a courageous and heroic people.

The remembrance of the years of study, the kindness of the Cuban, the gatherings of friends, Creole food and music were topics of conversation during the political-cultural activity.

To the rhythm of Van Van and Habana de Primera, the attendees shared feelings of brotherhood, love and peace; in the context of the second meeting of Cuban citizens residing in Lebanese territory this year. (Source: Prensa Latina)
