European travel agents in Cuba for Tourism Convention

Havana, May 1 (RHC) - Almost 400 travel agents and professionals from the world of tourism, from Spain and Portugal, will participate this week in the Annual DIT Gestión Macro Convention, which will be held until May 7 in Cayo Santa María, in the province of Villa Clara.

The group is headed by John Arriaga, president of the Spanish tour operator DIT Gestión, who explained that planning for the event began half a year ago with the interest of promoting the sale of the Cuba destination.

Niurka Pérez, Cuban Minister of Tourism in Spain, pointed out that for the country's tourism it will be a great opportunity since it is the first event of its kind held in Cuba. She added that it will serve to boost the flow of Spaniards and Portuguese to the nation.

For her part, Cristina Carvallo, a GMT Tours agent who is part of the visiting delegation, expressed her excitement at the possibility of knowing everything that Cuba offers as a vacation destination.

José Lobo, from the Seville agency Migtour, pointed out that what Spaniards most demand is to experience the essence of the country, its culture, the opportunity to disconnect from their daily lives and discover new horizons, for which Cuba represents a great option.

The commercial director of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, Gihana Galindo, affirmed that this May 2 the visiting agents will participate in the FitCuba 2023 International Tourism Fair and then they will join the convention in Cayo Santa María on the 4th. She stressed that the event will have representatives from all the country's provinces who will expose the most genuine of each territory. (Source: ACN)
