Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez

Havana, Jun 9 (RHC) Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez reiterated that Cuba is a country of peace and rejects any foreign military presence in Latin America and the Caribbean, particularly that of the United States.

Rodriguez denounced on Twitter that it is a practice of the US to make up fallacies to justify the aggression against Cuba, about the accusation published the day before by The Wall Street Journal on an alleged agreement between the island and China, in military matters, for the installation of a spy base.

Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernández de Cossío denounced Thursday that these are lies promoted to justify the unprecedented tightening of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade against the island and the destabilization campaigns.

It is about deceiving the public opinion of the United States and the world, he remarked and added that they are slanders frequently constructed by U.S. authorities.

He gave as an example those referring to the alleged acoustic attacks against U.S. diplomatic personnel in Havana, the falsehood about a non-existent Cuban military presence in Venezuela, and the lie about the imaginary existence of biological weapons laboratories.

“Regardless of Cuba’s sovereign rights in defense matters, our country is a signatory of the Declaration of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, signed in Havana in January 2014 and by which, we reject all foreign military presence in Latin America and the Caribbean”, Fernandez de Cossío emphasized.
